Photo Walking Tours of San Francisco
Learn about the city that’s so easy to love with a professional photographer as your guide. Explore the
visual richness of San Francisco in one of two four hour walking tours. It's perfect for those who love photography and want to capture the excitement and history of this vibrant city, while at the same time getting a concise introduction to some of its most unique sights. Each tour is designed to maximize photo possibilities with an eye to the visual icons of San Francisco. Tours are led by Rick Gerharter, a working news photographer, with 20+ years of professional photography experience and 30+ years of living knowledge of San Francisco's history, politics, culture and social dynamics.
Tour one includes Chinatown, North Beach, Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower. See and learn about the oldest Chinatown in the Americas, the earliest history of San Francisco, the Beats, architects and artists, the cable cars, Depression era murals, vistas of San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz and the famous bridges, plus present day life in these real world neighborhoods.
Tour two includes the Financial District, South of Market, Yerba Buena and Union Square Districts. See and learn about the development of San Francisco, how the Gold Rush influenced the city's culture, the effect of the 1906 earthquake and fire, the exquisite interiors of banks, hotels and public buildings, plus life today in this dynamic, multi-cultural city. This tour has a strong focus on the architecture and artwork in the districts.
